I have been ill for a long time. How will I ever achieve optimal wellness?
Optimal wellness looks different for everyone, and is what is optimal to each one at their stage in their illness. Optimal wellness focuses on the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of the individual in order to improve quality of life during serious health challenges. This may include reducing symptoms and increasing quality of life using alternative medicine.
What is alternative medicine?
Alternative medicine consists of any treatment or therapy that is not considered standard practice in conventional or Western medicine. Alternative therapies include a vast array of treatments, such as: spiritual healing and affirmative prayer; aromatherapy and essential oils; Ayurveda; energy healing such as Reiki, crystal Reiki, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or tapping; functional medicine; meditation and mindfulness; or body movements such as QiGong, Tai Chi, or Yoga.
You list that you provide holistic health and wellness coaching, spiritual coaching, and coaching support for caregivers. What is the difference?
In holistic health and wellness coaching, we will explore your health issues, nutrition and dietary needs, any physical limitations, limiting beliefs about your condition, and goals for a better quality of life. I will incorporate the dimensions of wellness to establish a plan that is right for you, which may include mindfulness and meditation practices, the use of essential oils, recommendations for dietary changes, movement activities, and/or energy healing.
If you desire to explore a spiritual-based approach, we will look at the limiting beliefs and obstacles in the way of your highest good, and affirm your Truth using Spiritual Mind Treatment. Spiritual Mind Treatments affirmative prayer that recognizes the God-self within us while revealing our spiritual truth, which opens the space for the creation of good.
I also offer coaching support to family caregivers to help reduce the impact of the stress from caring for others, help balance home, work, and family life, and help reduce the risk of compassion fatigue. Together, we will discuss your biggest challenges and needs, and focus on your own wellness goals.
What is energy healing?
We are all made up of energy that is in constant flow in our bodies. Sometimes the flow of energy in our bodies gets blocked by stress in our lives. Stressors that we may encounter may be related to work, family matters, relationship issues, or past traumatic events. The resulting blocks in our energy may cause fatigue, insomnia, health problems, and lack of focus.
Energy healing can help clear the energy blocks. One type of energy healing is Reiki, which is a Japanese alternative healing method developed by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist priest. A Reiki practitioner places hands lightly on, or just above the client in order to transmit Reiki energy where the client needs healing. Reiki aids in the release of stress and tension, and the support of relaxation, sleep, health, and spiritual well-being.
Another type of energy healing is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping. Tapping uses the body’s energy meridian points by stimulating the points similar to acupressure. By doing so, the body’s brain and energy system are altered to a more positive state. EFT is very effective in reducing physical and emotional pain.
