What is intention? It is the act of making a commitment and following through with it. Setting your intention is the key to manifesting your good. Intentions require paying attention to your thoughts, words, and actions. Wayne Dyer was known to say, “Our intention creates our reality.”

What is your goal for wellness? What is your intention for reaching your goal? Are your intentions in alignment with your goal? Where do you focus your attention?

There are many reasons why we would want to achieve a goal. For instance, a goal of optimal wellness. A goal of “I want to be well” is rather vague, but an intention of “I’m going to care for my body so that I am well enough to care for my children or grandchildren,” has a different purpose and meaning. There is an intention and commitment behind the goal.

How do you set intentions? It starts by writing down your goals and what you would like to achieve. Right before New Year’s Day, I herniated a disc in my lumbar spine after a fall. I could barely walk, but I still had to continue doing my daily activities including work, and I refused to take any type of pain medication. I found a chiropractor and went 2 to 3 times a week. I knew that if I lost some weight, my healing time would be less. So, I set my intention to lose 25 pounds. I didn’t reach that goal, I surpassed it and lost 30 pounds! It all happened by setting my intention and paying attention to my eating habits and foods that wouldn’t contribute to more inflammation. Prayer, meditation, and investing in an inversion table also helped tremendously. My healing was due to setting an intention to make change.

Now, what intention will you set for yourself?
